FREQUENTLY  ASKED QUESTIONS

 FAQ's

1.

Question: WHAT MAKES NEIGHBORHOOD NANNIES STAND APART FROM OTHER NANNY SERVICES?
Answer: We have had 26 years of experience to learn what works and what doesn't work within the nanny industry. During this time we have become known for providing excellent customer service to both our families and our nannies.

  1. * We have developed a reputation for being able to identify the right nanny for the right family with a 97% success rate.
  2. * We do all the background screening of the nannies PRIOR to setting them up to meet you.
  3. * 92% of our families and 95% of our nannies are personal referrals to our Agency.
  4. * Because of our years of experience and thorough screening process we have become adept at hand picking the most professional nannies. All of our candidates are loving, creative, responsible, reliable, and patient. They all have a genuine love of children and they appreciate the joy they receive back from the children they care for.

2.

Question: CAN WE GET REFERENCES ON YOUR AGENCY?
Answer: Yes, we have many satisfied families and nannies who would be willing to speak with you about us.

3.

Question: WHAT AREAS DO YOU SERVE?
Answer: We have nannies in Camden County, New Jersey, Burlington County, Gloucester County and many other parts of New Jersey. We also serve parts of Pennsylvania, New York and Delaware. If you need a nanny in another area, please contact us because we have fully screened, experienced nannies who are willing to work in many other areas.

4.

Question: WHO DO THE NANNIES WORK FOR?
Answer: When a nanny and family agree to work with each other the family is the employer. NEIGHBORHOOD NANNIES is a Referral Agency. We are not an employer, co-employer, nor an independent contractor. Each family establishes when, where, and how often they need the nanny to work.

5.

Question: AS THE NANNY'S EMPLOYER WHAT INSURANCE IS REQUIRED?
Answer: You need to check with your state regarding worker's compensation insurance.
If transporting your children is part of your job description it is your responsibility to make sure the proper auto insurance is in place. Whenever possible, it is recommended that families contribute to the nanny's health insurance.   We will be able to refer you to an agent who can help families and nannies find the appropriate policy if you are interested.  Please consult your accountant for any applicable tax information or we can refer you to qualified Nanny Tax Agencies who can help you with all of your nanny tax questions.

6.

Question: WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO REGISTER WITH NEIGHBORHOOD NANNIES?
Answer: If you are looking to hire a nanny on a REGULAR PERMANENT basis, that is a specific number of days and hours per week, please complete the FAMILY APPLICATION FORM and submit a check for $ 125.00. If you are looking to register for TEMPORARY OR OCCASIONAL childcare please complete the FAMILY APPLICATION FORM and submit a check for $ 75.00. The address for NEIGHBORHOOD NANNIES is 5 North Haddon Ave., Haddonfield, N.J. 08033.

7.

Question: WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I SUBMIT MY APPLICATION FORM AND REGISTRATION FEE?
Answer: A NEIGHBORHOOD NANNIES representative will contact you after we receive your Application. We will discuss your Application and clarify any questions or concerns about your family's childcare needs. If you are looking for a permanent nanny we will begin to cross reference you with the nannies who are the type that you are looking for. As we identify appropriate candidates we will contact you to arrange a personal interview. If you are looking for temporary/occasional care you will be able to utilize our service as soon as we receive your completed Family Application Form and Registration Fee of $ 75.00. All you need to do is call us. If you get our Voice Mail please just leave us your name, and the date and time you need a nanny and if you would like to request a specific nanny.

8.

Question: WHAT HOURS DO YOUR NANNIES WORK?
Answer:   We place both live-in and live-out nannies. Live-in nannies typically work a maximum of 12 hours a day, 5 days per week. If additional days and hours will be needed occasionally the terms would be mutually agreed upon between the family and the nanny.
Live-out nannies will work the days and hours needed and specified by the family.  If your family needs unusual hours we will discuss these circumstances with you prior to arranging interviews. We do have a four hour minimum at any one time.  Split days, such as before and after school hours, although not impossible, are more difficult.  Situations where there are not set days and hours are also more of a challenge if you are looking for the same permanent nanny.  If you do not need, or want to commit to a regular schedule each week, the best service for you would be our PRN or AS NEEDED TEMPORARY SERVICE.

9.

Question: HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO HIRE A PERMANENT NANNY?
Answer: We ask for 4-6 weeks notice. We begin working on your family's position as soon
as we receive your completed Family Application Form and non-refundable $ 125.00 Registration Fee. On average, the search for a nanny takes approximately 2-6 weeks. If you have immediate needs we can help you with a fully qualified temporary nanny while you are interviewing and securing your long term nanny.

10.

Question: DO YOUR NANNIES DRIVE?
Answer: Yes, all of our nannies drive and have their own vehicles. If your job description requires transporting your children, either in your vehicle or the nanny's, the family must make sure the proper auto insurance is in place.

11.

QUESTION: IF I LIKE ONE OF THE NANNIES I INTERVIEW WHAT DO I DO NEXT?
Answer: If you are interested in offering one of our nannies the job caring for your children please contact NEIGHBORHOOD NANNIES as soon as possible, preferably within 24 hours. We will discuss the terms of employment and present your offer to the prospective nanny. Once you and a nanny have agreed upon the terms of employment NEIGHBORHOOD NANNIES will draft a Family Placement Agreement and Terms of Employment. A start date will be determined and the agreed upon Placement Fee will be due.

12.

Question: WHAT IS NEIGHBORHOOD NANNIES GUARANTEE:
Answer: We guarantee that the nanny will stay with your family for a MINIMUM of one year from the start of employment. If the family complies with the terms of the Family Placement Agreement and the nanny leaves the job in less than one year NEIGHBORHOOD NANNIES will provide a replacement nanny to finish out any remaining portion of the year. If the nanny stays beyond one year there is no additional charge to the family for as long as that nanny stays with your family.
