 FAQ's
1.

  • There is NEVER a charge to the nanny.
  • We have great jobs with great families.
  • We will provide support every step of the way.
  • We are honest about the job descriptions.
  • We counsel families on job descriptions, competitive salaries and realistic expectations when hiring a Professional Nanny.
  • We will help with conflict resolution if necessary.
2. QUESTION: WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I SUBMIT MY NANNY APPLICATION?
ANSWER: If you meet our criteria we will call you to arrange a personal interview with us at our office at 5 North Haddon Ave., Haddonfield, N.J.
3. QUESTION: WHAT JOB OPPORTUNITIES ARE AVAILABLE THROUGH NEIGHBORHOOD NANNIES?
ANSWER: We have full-time, part-time, short-term, long-term, temporary, and occasional jobs. We have live-in and live-out positions. The majority of our jobs are Monday-Friday day time jobs but we also have some evenings, nights, overnights, and week-end assignments.
4. QUESTION: WHAT ARE THE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES OF A PROFESSIONAL NANNY?
ANSWER: A Professional Nanny is responsible for everything and anything to do with the care of the children. You will be expected to prepare nutritious snacks and meals for the children. You will have to clean up the kitchen after meals and make sure that the childrens bedrooms, bathrooms and play areas are tidy. Doing the childrens laundry will be a part of your job description. You will be expected to plan age-appropriate activities. You may be asked to run child related errands, plan play-dates and transport to activities and medical appointments. Any additional responsibilities such as doing the family's laundry and preparing the family's meals will be negotiated between the nanny and family.
5. QUESTION: DO I HAVE TO MAKE A COMMITMENT TO A FAMILY?
ANSWER: If you are only interested in accepting short term, temporary, or occasional assignments there is no long term commitment required. You MUST be reliable and get to EVERY job you have accepted and MUST be on-time for EVERY job. If you cancel on jobs you have already accepted without adequate notice or if you are routinely late we will not refer you for any assignments. RELIABILITY AND DEPENDABILITY is IMPERATIVE.
If you are looking for a permanent full-time or part-time position most families will expect a commitment of at least one year, unless you have been informed differently by NEIGHBORHOOD NANNIES.
6. QUESTION: IF I ACCEPT SHORT-TERM, TEMPORARY, OR OCCASIONAL JOBS WHERE WILL I BE WORKING?
ANSWER: Most of our jobs are in private homes but you may also be offered assignments in corporate settings, churches, synagogues, local hotels, supervised visitations with divorced parents, child care for weddings, parties, sporting events, and conventions
7. QUESTION: WHO WILL PAY ME?
ANSWER: The family always pays the nanny directly. NEIGHBORHOOD NANNIES is a Referral Agency. The nanny and family will agree upon an hourly or weekly salary based on the nanny's education and experience, as well as the number of children and job responsibilities.
8. QUESTION: HOW MUCH WILL I BE PAID?
Salaries are based on the nanny's education and experience, the number of children and job responsibilities. Currently the minimum salary for a live-out daytime nanny is $ 13.00 per hour. Most jobs are paying in the $ 13.00-$ 15.00 range but can be as high as $ 20.00 per hour if a nanny is a Certified Professional Nanny, has more than 15 years in the nanny field, or an advanced college degree in a child related field. Families with multiples, or who have many children or children with special needs also pay in the higher ranges. The range of pay for live-in nannies is $ 500-$ 800 per week.
9. QUESTION: CAN I WORK FOR A FAMILY OR ORGANIZATION THAT NEIGHBORHOOD NANNIES HAS REFERRED ME WITHOUT INFORMING NEIGHBORHOOD NANNIES?
ANSWER: DEFINITELY NOT. Although all nannies are free to work for any Agency, Organization, or Family that they have met on their own, nannies are NOT legally able to work for ANY one we have referred them to. Part of our Nanny Application Process includes the nanny signing a NANNY/AGENCY AGREEMENT that states the nanny is prohibited from performing ANY services for ANY of NEIGHBORHOOD NANNIES clients. If a nanny does do any work for our clients without letting us know the nanny will be liable for paying our fee as a loss of income to our Agency.
